Hello and welcome! My name is Mervin Reyes, and together with my amazing wife, Maria Caterina Vetro, we created Worldschooling Calabria to share our journey as homeschooling, travelschooling, and worldschooling parents.
This platform was born out of our deep passion for education, travel, and entrepreneurship, all with one primary goal—to give our daughter, Dalia, the best possible learning experience while living a life filled with excitement, discovery, and purpose. We believe that the world is the greatest classroom, and through our experiences, we want to help other families embrace a holistic, real-world approach to education that extends far beyond the walls of a traditional school.
We don’t just homeschool—we help other homeschooling parents start their very own highly profitable online businesses with their children, just as we are doing with Dalia on YouTube at Dalia’s Worldschooling Calabria and on her website at Worldschooling Calabria.
My third career began back on December 24, 2015, when I migrated to Italy and embarked on my journey of working from home as a digital product creator, services provider, and international marketer at MervinTimothyReyes.com. Fast forward 10 years later, in 2025, and Caterina and I have concentrated our life’s experiences, knowledge, expertise, passions, and purpose into one holistic approach and mission: to give our child the best possible education via homeschooling, travelschooling, and worldschooling while spending quality family time together on our journey.

Our journey is more than just a lifestyle—it is a mission from the heart. We want to inspire and support other families seeking a meaningful and flexible approach to education, helping parents and children alike to learn and grow in a way that aligns with their unique needs, interests, and passions. We also want to empower homeschooling families to build financial freedom through digital entrepreneurship, just as we are doing with Dalia.
As full-time digital entrepreneurs working from home, we have built a life that allows us to be fully present for Dalia while exploring the world, creating educational experiences, and sharing our insights with others. About Me: From Military Leader to Digital Creator 🏆✈️
Military Experience and Leadership 💪🏅
Before stepping into the world of digital entrepreneurship and education, my life was very different. I served 9.5 years in the military as a Lieutenant in the Infantry, specializing in jungle warfare tactics and military engineering. My military career took me across multiple countries, where I had the privilege of training with elite forces, including:
- The Royal School of Military Engineering in Chatham, Kent, UK
- The Colonel Ulrich Pilgrim Officers Academy in former British Guyana
- School of the Americas in Fort Benning, Georgia, USA
- Airborne and Pathfinder Schools in the United States
- Jungle Warfare Instructor for the Belize Defence Force
As a Commanding Officer of a Combat Engineer Platoon, I conducted jungle survival training for elite forces, including the United States Marines, British Forces, Singaporean Para-Military, and the Mexican Military. This period of my life shaped my leadership skills, discipline, and resilience—qualities that I now bring into my work as an entrepreneur, educator, and worldschooling father.
A Second Career in Adventure Tourism 🌿⛵
After leaving the military, I transitioned into the adventure tourism industry, where I spent 12 years as a PADI Master Scuba Diving Instructor and Jungle Terrestrial Tour Guide. My passion for the ocean, nature, and adventure continues to be a driving force in our worldschooling journey, as we incorporate elements of marine biology, environmental science, and survival skills into Dalia’s education.
Martial Arts: A Legacy of Discipline and Strength 💪🌟
One of my greatest passions and disciplines in life has been martial arts. I am a 1st-degree Shotokan Karate practitioner and was once an active member of the Belize Karate Federation and the Belize National Karate Team. As a former karate sensei, I had the honor of teaching and certifying karate students in my home country.
Today, karate remains an integral part of my life, and I am thrilled to pass down this skill to my daughter, Dalia, as part of her holistic educational journey. Karate instills discipline, self-confidence, respect, and mental resilience—all valuable traits for life, education, and personal development.
Finding Love and Building a Dream in Italy 🇮🇹💏
At age 42, I made one of the biggest changes of my life—I migrated to Italy, where I met the love of my life, Caterina Vetro. We got married and started our family on her fourth-generation olive farm, a place where we’ve embraced the beauty of nature, sustainable living, and the simple joys of rural life.
As an organic gardening enthusiast and olive farmer, I spend much of my time growing food, tending to our land, and teaching Dalia about the importance of nature, self-sufficiency, and environmental conservation.
About Caterina: A Life Dedicated to Helping Others 🏡✨
My wife, Maria Caterina Vetro, is a Psychologist MD, Eco-Therapist, and Humanitarian, whose career has taken her across five continents, working with underprivileged children in countries such as Belize, Guatemala, and Cambodia.
She is the founder of Rainbow Projects (https://rainbowprojects.it), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children in need. She is also a proud member of SMOM ONLUS in Italy, working to improve the lives of vulnerable communities worldwide.
